Post Filming - EDITING, SOUND & TITLES.

After our days of filming we finally had all the footage that was needed and we were ready to edit. As we have a deadline to work towards to we made a schedule for when we could come into workshops throughout the week to ensure we finished our film opening on time.

When filming we realised how important sound was. It was quite tricky finding the right sound for the jogger when he had his headphones in. At first we thought about using tense music to set the scene but after speaking to our teachers they said to stick to normal, jogging music as it gives the sense of a safe normal setting which would make the murder at the end of the film opening more surprising.

Me and Emma looked through different sounds that we could have Ami (the jogger) running to at the beginning. We came up with quite popular pop sounds that a young person would listen to and also sounds that you were likely to hear in the gym. After looking through various songs we came down to:

  • Plan B - Praying.
  • Example - Kickstarts.
  • Neyo Ft. Calvin Harris - Lets Go.
After speaking as a group we decided to use Neyo Ft. Calvin Harris - Lets Go as we liked the beat and thought it was an appropriate song for a jogger. We thought that using an instrumental version would work better.

Also when editing with the split screens we noticed that we had to be careful with timing and the positioning of the clips onto the black background. We often had to slow down the space in between when they came on screen as it was too fast.
