We had decided on our song that Ami (jogger) would be running to, however adding the sound wasn't as simple as we first thought. After speaking to our teacher she explained to us the rules of copyright. As the sound was digetic sound from Ami's headphones we could play it when he was shown on screen running but we wasn't allowed to play it when he wasn't on screen. This made it harder as the music was not allowed to play when Layla was on screen. When we stopped the music as soon as Layla came on screen it didn't sound right but after a bit of tweaking we faded the music out when she came on screen so it sounded better.
After doing this we added titles. We had to make sure that the titles were on screen for the same amount of time and we decided this would be 2 seconds. As a group we were not too sure where to place our film title. Our teachers had advised us to place it in the middle as that would conform to conventions of a film opening but we had a shot of Layla that we thought would work well with the film title. However in the end we decided to put it in the middle as we didn't want to risk putting it at the end.We made sure to keep them plain and not too over the top so that we conformed to the conventions of film opening titles.
When the titles were finished our teacher came over and had a look at our film opening. She said it would be good for us to add some natural sound to Layla's parts on screen, we also decided to layer Ami's parts with natural sound such as him running on grit, over the music from his headphones. This worked well and gave a more realistic feel to our opening.
Once the titles were sorted out we wrote up a voice over that woud be used as a detective. At first we thought to make one of the boys in class do it but we decided their voices were not conviving so we asked Micky to do it and he agreed to. Micky's recording came out really well and we were all pleased with how it sounded with our film opening so we decded to add it to the film opening.
