EDITING - 28/02/1013

Today we focused on editing our thriller opening and finding a song that would work well with it. Ami continued with the editing and me and Nyomi looked into songs. We found a few that we thought would work, however, Rebecca and Marissa reminded us that the song has to be upbeat and something that a jogger would listen to. This would create a false sense of security for the audience and would cause a greater shock at the end of the opening.

Some of the songs we found that we liked were by;
  • Plan B
  • Example (Kickstars)
  • Kanye West
  • Calvin Harris
  • Ne-Yo (Let's Go)
  • Florence and the Machine
Ami didn't agree with some of the choices as he didn't like the idea of pop songs so we will have to decide on this sometime next week.

I worked on the titles too, using our previous work on the conventions of a title sequence, I wrote out a rough idea of how our title sequence would go and then changed some titles around with the advice of Nyomi and Ami (such as whether the writer would appear before or after the actors).  We also have to decide on the names we will use for the titles; in our prelim we found it difficult to come up with names to use.

After presenting our rough cut to the class, we got some useful feedback on what we could change. This included introducing Layla's character, add foley sounds and checking the framing of our shots.

We have planned to use workshop in order to get our thriller opening completed as we still have a lot of work to do on it! I have work on Tuesday and Wednesday so if need be, I can stay after lesson on Thursday and come in on Friday to finish it off.
