Production Company Ident |
The sequence was spilt into different shots which we had to edit as a group. We started by adding the two company ident's at the beginning of the sequence and then looked through the various clips and decided on an order.
Once we were all happy with the sequence we started to add our titles, using our timelines of the conventional order of a title sequence as a guideline. We added three actors names first. In the making of a film, the most famous actors would be shown before the name of the film itself. The actor's names were placed at the bottom corners of the screen, this is so that it doesn't disrupt the audiences view.
Titles: Film Name |
Next, we added the film's name; 'Arlington Road'. We used a larger font size and placed the text in the middle of the screen as it was important information.
After the film's name, we added a few more actors names and then the names of the editors, costume designer, producer and director.
Titles: Cast & Crew |
We uploaded the videos we made onto the computers and saved them onto our harddrive before opening them in Final Cut Pro. We added the sounds where we thought they were appropriate. For the sound of footsteps we had to stretch the video in order for the timing to be right. We changed the noise levels to make the footsteps louder then the feet were on screen.
Titles: Cast & Crew |
From the re-make, I have learnt that foley sound is easy to use when creating the sounds while watching the film opening. This ensures that the both the footage and sounds are intime with eachother and means that the sounds do not have to be stretched during editing.
There are some areas of our final opening that have no sound. We realised after recording our sounds that we could have made our own sounds for the child screaming. It would be important in our thriller opening that there is sound throughout the whole sequence, whether it is deigetic or non-diegetic.
Editing our re-make using Final Cut Pro |
The font we used for the titles was not plain, for our thriller opening it would be important to use a plain font in order to follow the conventions of a thriller opening. The colour of the font should be easy to read. In our re-make, some of the titles are difficult to read due to the light coloured background and white font.
