RESEARCH - Analyse Film Openings.

Panic Room (2002) is a thriller that has a narrative opening with titles running throughout.

Camera:
Extreme wide shots are used to establish the location of the film. Panning, tilting and zooms are used to show the buildings.

Editing:
The editing for this sequence is slow paced. There is a sound bridge from the last wide shot of a park to the two women walking through the park. This helps with the narrative and shows the location.
The titles are in an extremely large font that occupies most of the screen, however, it doesn't interfere with the narrative.

Mise-en-scene:
The location of the film is New York City which is established in the opening sequence. High key lighting is used which is a contrast to the orchestral music.

Sound:
Non-diegetic music is played throughout the sequence, it is slow instrumental music that builds tension. Towards the end of the sequence there is the diegetic sound of the main character's conversation.
