Conventional Order Of Title Sequences.

The first title sequence we looked at was a film in class called The Roomate. The title sequence lasted just over two minutes and we noted down what names and jobs appeared, the position they were placed on the screen and what order they appeared in.

After watching this title sequence and noting down their order on a timeline we did the same for a film called Momento in our group. Both The Roomate and Momento had similarities in their order during the title sequence.

(Momento)

When both films started the first thing that appeared on screen was the production companies. This is because the production company is the most important as it funds the film and without that funding the film could not exist. Shortly after came the distribution company who also play a very important role as they are the ones who make it possible for audiences to watch, distribution companies are vital and without them any film would not have any success and would be pointless as there wouldn't be a audience to watch it.

The major difference when comparing both title sequences in our timeline was the order of where the director came. In Momento the director appeared very early, before the film name and was just after the distribution company. Whereas in The Roomate the director was one of the last names to appear. After analysing both films we thought that the reason for this difference was because Momento was directed by Quentin Tarrentino who is a very famous director, whereas The Roomate had a less known director. The director in this case is used as a type of marketing as people who have enjoyed previous films directed by Quentin Tarrentino will be more likely to go and watch his recent movie that is out.

A similarity in both films was that the most famous actors appeared on screen quite early. This is because they are more likely connect with the audience more as it is more likely that the audience will be know more famous actors compared to less famous actors.

The positioning of the film title was the same in both film sequences. The title appears in the centre of the screen which as it shows its importance an is the place that is easiest for a viewer to see it. The film titles also are usual very large to show its importance and make sure it is seen by its audience
