RESEARCH - Analyse Film Openings.

The girl with the dragon tattoo (2011) is a thriller that uses stylized editing in the opening sequence.

Camera:
The title sequence is highly edited.
Close up and extreme close up's are used throughout the sequence, the various items are also zoomed in on or tracked for short periods.

Editing:
Example of titles.
Use of fire in the title sequence.
There are flashing images that are in time with the beat of the music. The editing is faced paced which helps to build tension for the audience and keeps them interested in the film. The titles are in a plain white font, shown in various places on the screen. As the title sequence uses stylized editing, the titles are not disruptive.

Mise-en-scene:
Dark colours and low-key lighting are used throughout, with the exception of the match and fire. Both this, and the image of a body underwater, could suggest that the film involves violence. The body also suggests that the film may include death. The flashing images/white screen imitates lightening.

Sound:
The non-diegetic sound used is upbeat music with a female singer. This gives the feel that the film will involve lots of action and will be engaging to the audience.
