Intertextuality

intertextuality is known as the relationship between text. Meaning when a film borrows either a peice of sound, mise en scene, camera angle or methods of editing from a previous film, film companys use Intertextuality because it makes the audience familiar with that one thing and gives the audience something they can relate too.
There are some very famous peices if Intertextuality such as:
The ionic shower scene origionaly comes from the film physo which first realeased in 1960 directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

This well known shower sceen has also been used in other films in more recent releases such as:

What Lies Beneath:
The Stepfather:
All of these films copy one or more of the main
elements of the scene in 'Psycho': a murderer, the knife, the setting of a
bathroom. Each film adapts the scene to fit the plot of the film, therefore
making necessary changes.
