We were given different clips from the film and asked to order and edit them until we were happy with the title sequence. Whilst editing we went by what we had learnt about the conventions of title sequences. This meant that we had the production companies/idents names on screen first and the rest followed. After the companies ident came the three most famous actors came after.
The films name was placed in the centre of the screen so it was easy for all viewers to see. It was capital letters to stand out. The font was kept the same throughout all the titles on the sequence.
After we added all titles we started to record our foley sounds to used on our re-edit. Members of our group made sounds such as footsteps, scratching noises and knocking sounds. We used a digital camera to do this. After recording the sounds we uploaded them to the computer and began to edit our clips of the film. We edited and added the sounds using Final Cut Pro.
When editing we watched the different clips of the film opening and decided where best to added our foley sounds. The sound that was the most tricky to match was the footsteps of the young boy. Often we found that the sound of the footsteps and the actual movement seen on screen were out of sync and therefore we had the stretch the sound and change the pace of the footsteps.
During editing I found that it was not one of my strengths compared to others in my group. I found that I performed better when filming the actual sounds and making them sound realistic than I was at editing and using Final Cut Pro. This is something I plan to work on in workshops a I will need to participate more in future editing for our thriller.
